FAQ

  • Do you provide lunch?
Families provide their child’s lunch. Before lunch time, the teachers will look in lunchboxes to see if there are any items that need heating. They will take them to the kitchen to warm-up and return them for the child at lunchtime. ICDC provides nutritious, low sugar snacks that are in accordance with the nutritional requirements set by the State of California. These snacks are served in the morning and afternoon with an additional cracker snack served at 5:00. Snack calendars are located at the front desk or can be viewed in each classroom on their parent information bulletin boards.
  • When can I enroll my child?
Typically our spots become available June through September when the older children leave us to go to Kindergarten. Individual classroom enrollment can change several times during the course of the year. Please call (949) 724-6700 to check on the availability of your child’s age grouping.
  • What are your ratios and group size?
    Infants: 1 to 3 (12 total) Toddlers: 1 to 4 (16 total) Pre-1: 1 to 6 (17 total) Pre-2, 3, 4: 1 to 8 (Pre-2 & Pre-3=17 each / Pre-4= 22)
  • We've heard that there are different types of Preschool. Which are you, play based or academic?
Our program is a play based program, centered around the principle that children learn best through active participation within their environment. We believe children are self-motivated to learn when presented with an environment rich with possibilities. We believe that children guide their learning from emerging ideas that are created and fostered by educated, experienced and creative teachers. In addition, we feel that children develop at their own unique pace and that there are different components of development in each child. These components include development of social/emotional skills, gross/fine motor skills, language skills, play/adaptive skill, cognitive/academic skills and executive function skills.
  • Does my child need to be potty trained?
There is no potty trained age requirement. ICDC feels that each child masters this skill in their own developmental time frame. When we see and hear cues from the child, we will certainly be more than happy to assist the child and family with this skill.
  • What are your hours of operation?

  • What time can I drop my child off and pick up?
The drop off time is anytime between 6:30am - 11:00am and you may pick up your child any time before 6:00pm. We do have a strict late policy. All families must be out of the building by 6:00pm or a late fee will be charged.
  • What days are you closed?
We are open year-round but are closed on some Federal Holidays, some designated cleaning days/trainings days, and a short winter break. We strive to keep fewer closure dates than many centers in the area and we also have longer hours of operation to meet your childcare needs. • What are your immunization requirements?
Our center follows the immunization schedule, for children and teachers in Child Care, that the State of California is currently requiring. For any child or teacher that has medical reasons for not being able to adhere to this schedule, a physician's signed form will be required.
